Long Description:

Giles will be discussing ‘Greening Your Website – understand your website’s carbon footprint and the case for lessening its impact, with the eco and business benefits.’

If you own a website or are thinking of creating one, you should be mindful about its ecological and carbon footprint.

Consumers, citizens and activists have turned sustainability into a mainstream concept that is able to ruin a company’s reputation and profits if concerns about business ethics and behaviour are not addressed.

Even the smallest businesses produce carbon emissions, through their premises, the vehicles they use, their supply chain, and even their website and overall digital footprint.

Every time your website is visited, carbon is generated. The more complex a website is, the more electricity it requires to load – and the greater its climate impact. Scale that up to the whole internet and you’ve got a big problem.

As we all face climate change, we can take a small step that makes a big impact – create a low carbon website.

Luckily, there are some simple steps you can take to make your website leaner and greener. it just takes some know-how, time and effort.

Learn more about how to understand, measure and reduce the carbon footprint of your website, and take an important first step in improving your business or organisation’s eco credentials.
